Yanpeng Jiang joined ANU in 2015 and is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Political and Social Change. He received PhD in Geography from the University of Leeds.
His book project, Monograph provisionally titled: 'Land based urban growth coalition in China', is a detailed examination of the planning and construction of Hongqiao and its impact on local residents. In brief, the broad aim of his research is to investigate the process of the planning and development of Hongqiao transport and business zone; to examine its relationship with urban development and spatial restructuring in Shanghai; and to thereby comment on and critique the nature of urban change in contemporary China, which will be characterised as property-led and infrastructure-led.
