Institute of Water & Environmental Engineering
The Institute of Water & Environmental Engineering is an academic research institution established under the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Geography Science, Ningbo University. It primarily focuses on the cutting-edge disciplines within the water and environmental sector and local industrial needs, adhering to a strategy that places fundamental research as the cornerstone, applied research as the core, and industrial application as the foothold. The institute fosters a collaborative and interactive innovation system spanning from basic disciplines to industrial applications, integrating sewage (wastewater) sources, drainage pipeline networks, wastewater treatment plants, discharge outlets, and environmental water bodies in an organic and profound manner. Continuously, it achieves systematic scientific and technological achievements in basic theories, key technologies, and engineering applications for pollution control from pollution sources to aquatic environments, striving to provide technical support for the continuous improvement of water ecological environment quality.
The institute currently boasts 7 teachers and 15 graduate students. It undertakes various government sponsored research projects including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Provincial Natural Science Foundation. The institute has published over 90 research papers in domestic and international academic journals and secured more than 30 patents. With a primary focus on water pollution control and treatment technologies, quality improvement and efficiency enhancement of sewage treatment, theories and technologies related to drainage networks, as well as solid waste treatment and resource recovery, the institute has taken on nearly a hundred industry sponsored research projects in corresponding areas mentioned above. It has long provided decision-making consultation, technical evaluation, and scheme research services to government departments, enterprises, and institutions.
